Powered by SRD:
SRD offers the best alpine ski race suits on the market. Designed in Colorado by Barry Levinson, SRD’s Head of Design and made in Europe by the race suit manufacturer which makes the majority of Spyder’s and the factory that supplies suits to over 5 national teams. Race suits identical to SRD’s have been used regularly on the World Cup! SRD suits without question offer the very best in design, materials and construction.
When you are looking for a new ski race suit be sure to see if they have the following features available in SRD suits:
Fabric:
SRD World Cup Series suits are made from the best and fastest Swiss Eschler fabrics. These are the same fabrics used in many of the top World Cup team suits. Eschler fabrics have won more World Cup races than all the others combined. All SRD World Cup adult suits meet FIS regulations. Our new Europa Cup Series feature a new material from Italy that resists pilling - give it the Velcro test! These Europa Series suits are not FIS rated but are generally suitable for all levels of racing below Nor-Am/Europa Cup.
Padding:
SRD suits have special very high-density padding in all critical areas: forearm, elbow, upper arms, kidneys, thighs, and knees. These custom placed SRD pads are smaller and sewn into many sections for a better anatomic fit. Be wary of suits with large pads sewn into large pockets that will not conform well to the body and tend to slide around, or worse fold up in the pad pocket.
SRD also uses pads with a smooth and flat surface texture. Pads that feature textures that are knobby, raised or bumpy tend to grab at the gates during impact and cause the suit to burn from the increased friction.
Construction:
SRD suits are made with very strong zig-zag stitching. This type of stitching allows the suit to stretch, even across the seams. Suits made with straight single stitching do not allow this type of flexibility and tend to tear over time.
Printing:
SRD World Cup Series suits use a special “Deep Printing” process that puts more ink into the fabric for deeper, more intense graphics. More ink means less color loss when the material is stretched and makes the material less prone to pilling or fading. This is unlike lesser quality traditional dye-sublimated suits which also tend to fade much more quickly. With SRD, our blacks are blacker and our reds are redder!
Race Fit:
SRD suits are patterned and designed to fit optimally in an aggresive athletic ski position (as opposed to standing up straight). This allows an ergonomic fit that helps “pull” you into a faster ski position.
